LONDON - Wolfson Microelectronics plc has said that its audio hub IC, the WM8994, has been designed into the Samsung Wave and Galaxy S smartphones.

The WM8994 manages, converts and processes diverse audio sources, including voice, speaker, microphone, music and headphone signals.

The Wave smartphone runs Samsung's Bada operating system, the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface and contains a 1-GHz processor, 2-Gbytes of internal memory and a music and high-definition video player and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.

The Android-powered Galaxy S features 16-Gbytes of internal memory, a 4-inch active-matrix OLED touchscreen and a 5-megapixel camera which shoots both HD photographs and video.
