SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Taiwan's Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (ASE), the world's largest independent provider of IC packaging and testing services, reported net revenues of NT$28.976 billion ($901.2 million) for the fourth quarter of 2007, up 28 percent year-over-year and up 4 percent sequentially.

Net income for the quarter totaled NT$3.704 billion ($115.2 million), up from NT$2.734 billion ($85 million) in 4Q06 and down from NT$4.225 billion ($131.4 million) in 3Q07.

Net revenues for the full year of 2007 amounted to NT$101.163 billion ($3.15 billion), up 1 percent from 2006. In 2007, net income amounted to NT$12.165 billion ($378.3 million), compared with a net income of NT$17.416 billion ($541.6 million) in 2006.

For the full year 2007, ASE spent $446 million for capital expenditures
